SpaceX shares are getting a lift after some of tech's top names identified themselves as big investors in Elon Musk's rocket-and-AI company.
Among them: artificial-intelligence chipmaker Nvidia, which said in a Friday filing it owned close to 123 million SpaceX shares. SpaceX is pouring money into its AI business and this month said it agreed to use Nvidia chips exclusively.
A raft of other recent securities filings have revealed other major SpaceX holders:
-- Alphabet's Google held a 7.2% stake, based on an investment it made more than a decade ago;
-- Antonio Gracias' entities held a 6.5% stake. Gracias is a longtime investor and close Musk associate who currently sits on SpaceX's board;
-- Peter Thiel, an investor and co-founder at venture firm Founders Fund, had a 5.5% stake in the company;
-- Musk himself controlled a 48.4% ownership stake, a filing showed.
SpaceX shares were up about 6.4% in midday trading. Nvidia's stock rose about 1%.
