Wedbush Securities released a research report stating that after OpenAI disclosed its GPT-5.6 Sol’s Ultrafast mode will be powered by Cerebras, Wedbush believes that the existing partnership between the two parties is making “positive progress.”

According to Jinse Finance APP, on Monday, Cerebras Systems (CBRS.US) became the market focus. Wedbush Securities released a research report stating that after OpenAI revealed that its GPT-5.6 Sol's Ultrafast mode would be powered by Cerebras, Wedbush believes the existing partnership between the two parties is making "positive progress." Boosted by this news, Cerebras' pre-market share price rose by 2.2%.

Wedbush analyst Matt Bryson stated in a report to clients: "We believe this news marks the continued advancement of the partnership between Cerebras and OpenAI. Although OpenAI has committed to purchasing 750 megawatts of computing capacity from Cerebras by 2028, we note that the agreement structure allows OpenAI to extend the contract period related to this capacity and further expand it before 2030."

The newly launched Ultrafast mode delivers processing speeds up to 14 times faster than OpenAI's standard mode and is currently being rolled out in batches to specific customer groups with high demands for low latency. OpenAI has observed "encouraging" test feedback for applications such as event response and reliability, financial research and security, customer support and voice interaction, business, as well as real-time research and experiments. Early adopters of GPT-5.6 Sol in Ultrafast mode include quantitative trading giant Jane Street, AI lead generation company Podium, and financial firms Basis and Rogo.

In April this year, Cerebras and OpenAI reached a $20 billion partnership deal. According to the agreement, Cerebras will provide OpenAI with servers powered by its self-developed chips over the next three years. Meanwhile, OpenAI has committed to providing Cerebras with about $1 billion in funding to support the development of data centers needed to operate its AI products.
