Eli Lilly (LLY.US) launches new Class 1 drug Phase III clinical trial in China
According to the Insight database, Brenipatide is the world's first GLP-1 product to initiate Phase III clinical trials for depression.
According to Golden Ten Data APP, on August 17, the official website for Drug Clinical Trial Registration and Information Disclosure showed that Eli Lilly (LLY.US) registered a phase III clinical trial of Brenipatide injection in adult participants with depression. The Insight database shows that Brenipatide is the world’s first GLP-1 product to initiate a phase III clinical trial for depression.

Brenipatide is a GLP1R/GIPR dual agonist under development, and after tirzepatide, it is Eli Lilly’s second new GLP-1/GIP dual-target drug, with the most advanced trial globally at phase III and not yet approved for marketing. Besides depression, Eli Lilly has also initiated two phase III Brenipatide studies targeting alcohol use disorder. In addition, Eli Lilly is expanding other indications, such as bipolar disorder, asthma, nicotine dependence, schizophrenia, diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
