Goldman Sachs has updated its list of potential beneficiaries of AI-driven productivity gains, focusing on Russell 1000 Index constituents that are labor-intensive and have significant exposure to AI automation.

According to reports from Zhicheng Finance APP, following the second quarter earnings season, Wall Street financial giant Goldman Sachs has updated its list of potential artificial intelligence (AI) productivity beneficiaries, focusing on labor-intensive companies in the Russell 1000 Index with significant exposure to AI automation.

Reportedly, this screening model ranks companies within each industry based on two indicators: the proportion of labor costs to sales, and the proportion of their total wages that can be automated by AI. The second indicator is based on occupation-level data provided by Revelio. To be included in the list, stocks must rank in the top 50% on both indicators within their industry. Additionally, companies must have mentioned AI in the context of productivity or efficiency during their second or first quarter earnings calls. Furthermore, Goldman Sachs has excluded companies included in its AI infrastructure or AI disruption risk stock baskets.

This update comes after the second-quarter earnings season. Goldman Sachs found that the impact of corporate AI adoption on earnings is still relatively limited. Although 65% of S&P 500 constituents mentioned AI—with 46% discussing it in the context of productivity or efficiency—only 11% quantified AI's impact in a specific applied scenario, and only 2% of companies actually quantified AI's impact on their earnings.

Goldman Sachs stated that although all the companies in this stock basket have discussed AI-related productivity initiatives during earnings calls, there has yet to be a meaningful earnings growth trajectory driven by AI applications. As a result, investors are still more focused on beneficiaries of AI infrastructure.

Below is Goldman Sachs’ updated list of AI productivity beneficiary stocks:
