8,000 tons of marine green methanol fuel produced in China has been successfully bunkered

On August 17, 8,000 tons of green methanol produced by Shanghai Electric Group were bunkered at Yangshan Port in Shanghai for a CMA CGM container vessel, marking a new stage of bulk delivery for China's green methanol industry. This batch of green methanol fuel mainly originates from the Shanghai Electric Taonan City wind power-coupled biomass green methanol integrated demonstration project. The production process of green methanol makes full use of biomass resources such as corn stalks from Taonan, Jilin, and green hydrogen generated by wind power, achieving efficient utilization of various resources. As this green methanol product does not rely on fossil or coal-based raw materials throughout the entire process, its lifecycle carbon emissions are reduced by over 65% compared with traditional methanol products.
