India's silver imports rebound, nearly 90 tons imported in August after overcoming licensing obstacles

Traders have obtained new import licenses but must meet special import requirements to profit from favorable premiums. (2) In August, traders imported approximately 89.81 tons of silver through the India International Bullion Exchange, after the country experienced six consecutive months without silver imports. As one of the world's largest consumers of silver, India relies almost entirely on overseas supply. (3) The Chief Advisor of Metals Focus stated that supply conditions in August significantly improved compared to July, and it is estimated that around 400 tons of import licenses have been approved so far. As supply increases, the domestic premium over international prices has narrowed, but as of last Friday, the 30-day average premium was still about $4 per ounce.```
