Nvidia (NVDA.US) discloses SpaceX (SPCX.US) holdings for the first time! The value of shares held is nearly $21 billions, with holdings in Intel (INTC.US) reaching $30 billions.
According to a 13F regulatory filing submitted by Nvidia to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday, as of June 30, the company held approximately 122.8 million shares of SpaceX, with a position value close to 21 billions USD.
According to reports from Zhihui Finance APP, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) submitted a 13F regulatory filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 14. As of June 30, the company held approximately 122.8 million shares of Elon Musk's space exploration company SpaceX (SPCX.US), with a market value close to $21 billion; it also held about 214.8 million shares of Intel (INTC.US), valued at around $30 billion. Combined, these two holdings exceed $51 billion, accounting for about 25% of NVIDIA's total assets (approximately $206.8 billion).
Statistics show that the total market value of NVIDIA’s holdings in the second quarter reached $63.4 billion, up from $18.4 billion in the previous quarter. In the second quarter, the institution added one new stock to its portfolio, holding a total of eight stocks.
In the second quarter, NVIDIA added 122.8 million shares of SpaceX, accounting for 30.94% of its holdings, and increased its stake in Nebius Group NV (NBIS.US) by 21.0659 million shares, representing 6.91% of its holdings. In addition, as of June 30, NVIDIA also held shares in several companies including Coherent Corp. (COHR.US), Generate Biomedicines Inc. (GENB.US), Nokia (NOK.US), and Synopsys (SNPS.US).
According to FactSet data, NVIDIA is currently the sixth largest shareholder of SpaceX. Musk himself remains firmly in the top spot with a holding of around $850 billion, while Alphabet ranks second with about $78 billion.
However, since SpaceX was listed at $135 per share on June 12, the stock price has fluctuated dramatically. On the third day after listing, it briefly surged to $225, then gradually declined and fell to a new low of $104 in early August. As of August 14, SpaceX closed at $140, down about 18% from the end of June’s $170.86. As a result, the current market value of NVIDIA’s holding has shrunk to about $17.2 billion, a paper loss of nearly $4 billion.
This disclosure is the first time NVIDIA has publicly revealed the specific value of its SpaceX holdings since investing in Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI. Earlier this year, xAI was merged into SpaceX, paving the way for SpaceX’s unprecedented initial public offering.
It is reported that in 2025, NVIDIA will invest up to $2 billion in xAI through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), designed with both equity and debt elements, specifically to purchase its processors for xAI’s large-scale computing projects.
The value of NVIDIA’s Intel holdings has soared significantly compared to three months ago. According to previous regulatory filings, as of the end of March, this holding was worth only about $9.5 billion. This investment dates back to last year, when NVIDIA agreed to invest $5 billion in Intel and announced a joint chip development initiative for PCs and data centers. At the time, this move was seen as a surprising strategic measure aimed at supporting this troubled industry veteran.
