According to reports, Apple's incoming CEO John Ternus is currently assembling his own core management team and has brought back a trusted lieutenant who had worked with him for many years in the hardware engineering department.

According to Golden Ten Data APP, Apple (AAPL.US) is reportedly preparing for its new CEO, John Ternus, who is currently assembling his own core management team. He has brought back a trusted lieutenant with whom he worked for many years in the hardware engineering department.

Sources reveal that Ternus has hired Laura Legros, who previously served as Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple until her retirement in 2022. Since this personnel change has not been publicly announced, the sources requested anonymity. Legros will report directly to Ternus after he officially takes over as CEO on September 1.

This move indicates that Ternus is starting to stamp his influence on the new management team. It also marks a rare case of Apple rehiring a retired senior executive. Ternus will succeed Tim Cook as CEO; Cook, the longest-serving CEO in Apple's history, will transition to Executive Chairman.

The spokesperson for Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, California, declined to comment on the above news.

It is understood that in her new role, Legros will serve as Vice President, responsible for cross-departmental coordination and lateral collaboration with various business segments within the company.

During her tenure at Apple, Legros was responsible for product delivery, progress management of development, and coordination between engineering teams to ensure overall alignment.

Before retiring, she was one of Ternus’s most trusted deputies. In 2018, she appeared at Apple’s new product launch event to introduce the new MacBook Air; two years later, she hosted the launch of the current iPad Air.

In recent months, Ternus has been shadowing Cook and participating in executive meetings. The incoming CEO has met with heads of various departments and has taken part in reviewing the business roadmap for the coming year across multiple segments.

Additionally, since the end of last year, Ternus has spent considerable time communicating with Apple’s design team. Reportedly, apart from bringing Legros into the new team, Ternus also plans to adjust Apple’s design department.

In the coming months and years, Ternus will need to make more executive personnel changes. Several key Apple executives are approaching retirement age, and the company internally expects a number of executives to depart in the next few years.

The current head of government affairs, Kate Adams, who previously served as General Counsel, has indicated she plans to retire at the end of this year. Her position will be taken over by the new General Counsel, Jennifer Newstead.

Additionally, former CFO Luca Maestri is now responsible for the real estate and information systems team; Phil Schiller, who stepped down as Marketing Chief in 2020 and now oversees the App Store, are both nearing the end of their careers at Apple.
