WALL STREET STOCKS EDGE LOWER AS APPLE DROPS, YIELDS RISE
Major U.S. stock indexes are lower to little changed in choppy early trading on Friday, with Apple AAPL.O shares down more than 9% following a disappointing forecast and U.S. benchmark yields at their highest level since January 2025.
Offsetting the day's weakness is a rally in Amazon.com AMZN.O shares. Amazon is up about 14% after its cloud sales growth reinforced investor confidence in its massive AI spending.
The forecast from Apple, which reported quarterly results after the closing bell on Thursday along with Amazon, showed that the iPhone maker was struggling to secure enough components.
