Apple's third-quarter earnings featured strong growth for its flagship product, but shares are falling about 4% after market close.
IPhone sales grew 21% , but Apple's overall revenue of $109.4 billion came in only slightly above Wall Street's $108.2 billion estimate.
Apple investors had high expectations: Shares had already surged ahead of earnings as investors felt more secure in the company's relatively modest capital-spending compared with its hyperscaling peers.
Investors are also watching for signs that the company's planned price hikes due to ever-mounting memory and chip costs could dampen consumer demand across all products.
