PCE Cooled, But the Fed's Job Isn't Done -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/30 13:450945 ET - The slight decrease in June's headline PCE inflation may be a better sign for central bank officials, however, inflation remains well above the Fed's 2% target. Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh said beyond PCE, he will look at a broader set of inflation measures at his press conference on Wednesday. Consumers have remained widely resilient amid the oil price shock, aligning with Warsh's comments yesterday that the economy remains resilient. Consumer spending, the economy's main engine, rose at a 3.2% pace in the second quarter, according to The Commerce Department, picking up from 0.5% in the first quarter of this year.(jessica.coacci@wsj.com)
