The Department of Agriculture reported corn and soybean export sales on the high-end of analyst forecasts for the week.

In its weekly export sales report published Thursday, the USDA said that sales of U.S. corn for the week ended July 23 totaled 1.43 million metric tons across the 2026/27 and 2027/28 marketing years. Soybean sales for both marketing years totaled 1.64 million tons.

Both corn and soybean sales landed on the high side of forecasts from analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal this week.

Analysts had anticipated corn sales to land anywhere from 500,000 tons to 1.6 million tons, along with soybean sales between 700,000 tons and 1.8 million tons.

Wheat sales for the week landed on the low side of forecasts for the week, at 285,200 tons. Analysts had forecast sales between 200,000 tons to 500,000 tons.

CBOT grain futures are higher in pre-market trade Thursday. Most-active corn futures are up 0.4%, soybeans rise 0.1%, and wheat climbs 2.7%.
