xAI launches AI programming product: Grok Build mode can generate websites and applications through natural language
Grok has officially launched Build Mode, allowing users to generate websites, applications, and more by simply describing their requirements in natural language. This feature is currently available in early beta to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers. SpaceX shares rose 2.8% intraday, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 4%, following the market's pessimistic expectations for SpaceX's AI business development.
xAI is further expanding the boundaries of its AI assistant Grok by launching Build Mode, a feature with real-time generation capabilities that enters the competitive field of existing AI programming and development tools.
On Tuesday, xAI announced that its AI assistant Grok has officially launched Build Mode. Users only need to describe their requirements in natural language, and Grok can instantly generate runnable websites, applications, games, or interactive data dashboards in the chat interface, which can then be published for access by others via a shareable link.
This feature is currently available in Early Beta to SuperGrok Heavy subscription users and supports web, iOS, and Android platforms.
The launch of Build Mode marks xAI's move to extend Grok from a Q&A and content generation tool into an end-to-end development platform. This positioning puts it in direct competition with AI programming tools such as Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, Anthropic’s Claude, and OpenAI’s GPT.
At the time of writing, SpaceX shares were up 2.8% intraday, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 4%, following previous market pessimism regarding SpaceX's AI business prospects.

No installation or setup required, develop through conversation
According to xAI’s product documentation, after users describe their development goals to Grok, Grok will automatically generate code and present a real-time preview within the chat window.
Users can then continue to iterate, adjusting layouts, adding features, or modifying styles. The entire process requires no installation of any software or environment configuration, and users do not need to interact directly with the underlying code.
xAI emphasizes that Build Mode is designed for a wide range of use cases:
For websites, it supports landing pages, personal portfolios, and corporate sites; for applications, it covers practical tools with actual state and logic, such as planners, trackers, calculators, simulators, and internal productivity tools; for games, it can generate arcade racers, puzzle games, and interactive 3D worlds; for interactive dashboards, Grok can use connectors to access users’ business data and convert it into real-time, filterable chart views.
After content generation is complete, users can publish the outcome to a grok.me link or bind it to their own custom domain, then share the link with team members or any external users. This delivery mechanism lowers the barrier for distributing creations and gives Build Mode’s output some commercial viability.
Limited-time access for heavy subscribers
Currently, Build Mode is in early testing and only available to SuperGrok Heavy subscription users.
Users can access this feature through the “Build” option in the mode switcher on grok.com or the Grok mobile app. xAI has not yet disclosed a timeline for broader release, nor indicated whether Build Mode will be available as a standalone subscription tier or included in existing plans.
For investors, the strategic significance of Build Mode is that xAI is trying to enhance the commercial value of its subscription offerings by expanding Grok’s functional boundaries and seeking differentiated positioning in the increasingly competitive AI tools market.

U.S. Treasury debt is approaching the $40 trillion mark.
