Dow Jones2026/07/28 12:09By Adriano Marchese
S&P Global posted higher second-quarter profit and sales as record growth in its core ratings and index businesses helped boost results ahead of its spin-off of Mobility Global.
The financial information, analytics, and credit ratings provider on Tuesday posted net income of $1.22 billion, or $4.12 a share, compared with $1.07 billion, or $3.50 a share, in the same quarter a year ago.
Adjusted earnings were $4.83 a share. According to FactSet, analysts were expecting $4.81 a share.
Revenue rose 10% to $4.15 billion, topping expectations of a more modest rise to $4.12 billion.
Earlier in July, S&P completed its spin-off of its Mobility division, creating an independent public company called Mobility Global. S&P Global's higher results in the quarter were boosted by $468 million in revenue from the Mobility division, which remained part of the company through June 30 prior to being spun-off.
"We delivered another strong quarter, with record results in two of our benchmark businesses - Ratings and Indices - and we successfully launched Mobility Global on July 1, as an independent, public company," Chief Executive Martina Cheung said.
Looking ahead, the company expects revenue growth of 5.9% to 7.9%, with earnings per share of between $16.35 and $16.60, and adjusted EPS of $17.50 to $17.75.
