U.S. consumer confidence index dropped to 90.8 in July, as households' perceptions of the labor market weakened.

According to ChainCatcher, citing Golden Ten Data, the US July Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index fell from a revised 92.2 in June to 90.8, below the projected 92.3. Overall, households’ views on the labor market remain relatively weak.

Conference Board chief economist Dana Peterson stated that in July, consumer feedback on the factors affecting the economy was still mainly pessimistic, and references to employment and unemployment slightly increased.
