Italy - Factors to watch on July 28

ECONOMY
Italy on Monday re-introduced a temporary cut in excise duties on diesel, amid wide-spread protests against soaring energy costs and mounting concerns over the fiscal impact of such moves.
Statistics bureau ISTAT releases June trade data with non-EU countries.
DEBT
The Treasury said on Monday it will sell up to 8 billion euros ($9.10 billion) of bonds at auction on July 30. It also said it was cancelling its scheduled August 13 auction of medium to long-term bonds and its auction of BTPEI bonds on August 26.
On Tuesday the Treasury offers short-term BTPs and BTPEI bonds linked to euro zone inflation.
It will also announce details of its next auction of medium and long-term bonds.
COMPANIES

The bank's advisers are exploring a merger that would mix cash and shares as a possible alternative to Intesa Sanpaolo's ISP.MI offer for Monte Paschi, Bloomberg News reported on Monday.
According to MF, the most likely scenario is that MPS will distribute a special dividend before the transaction is finalized.

The Franco-Italian carmaker said on Tuesday it had agreed to sell its entire shareholding in the Free2move car-sharing business to Germany-based holding company Mutares SE & Co KgaA MUXG.DE by the end of the year.
The carmaker's Brampton plant in Canada, which has been idle since 2023, is being eyed by Roshel, a Canadian armored-vehicle manufacturer, MF reported on Tuesday, citing Toronto CityNews.
SAIPEM SPMI.MI
The Italian oil and gas contractor on Monday revised down its expectations for 2026 core earnings to take into account extra costs linked to the Middle East crisis.
The company will hold on Tuesday an analyst call on its first-half results at 0830 GMT and a media briefing at 1030 GMT.

The Italian energy group said on Tuesday it had reached the Final Investment Decision (FID) to develop Cronos project, in the deep waters offshore Cyprus, with the aim to bring the first Cypriot gas to market in 2028.

The Italian betting firm confirmed on Tuesday its guidance on 2026 adjusted EBITDA, which is expected at the top end of the range of €940 million to €980 million, after posting double digit growth in the second quarter.
THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP TISGR.MI
Italian yatch-maker Sanlorenzo said on Monday that a group led by entrepreneur Riccardo Cima has submitted a binding, secured expression of interest to acquire the entire business of troubled yacht builder The Italian Sea Group (TISG) through a newly formed vehicle, Polo Nautico Carrara (PNC).

Several U.S. distressed-debt managers are interested in buying the bank's nonperforming loans division, MF reported on Tuesday. The newspaper named Apollo Global Management APO.N, Fortress and Cerberus as interested parties.

It signed an 18-month contract with Leonardo to supply high-speed optical terminals for laser communications for the first orbital plane of Leonardo's proprietary Earth-observation constellation. The contract is worth €6.5 million, with about 15% of the total expected to be recognised in 2026.

The wireless infrastructure company issues H1 results after market close.
