Treasury Yields Fall Ahead of Fed Meeting as U.S., Iran Hold Fire -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/27 19:441544 ET - Demand for Treasurys partially recovers from last week's slump, sending yields lower, as oil prices plunge. A pause in hostilities fuels hopes that the U.S. and Iran could move toward an agreement to restore oil trade routes in the Middle East. Markets price in a Fed hold this week, but odds of a hike climb to 38% from 16% a week ago, according to CME. Some analysts predict a hold followed by hawkish Fedspeak, although guidance is expected to be minimal under Chairman Warsh. The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index is expected to tick higher. The 10-year yield sheds 0.038 percentage point to 4.640% and the two-year slips 0.010 percentage p.p. to 4.318%. (paulo.trevisani@wsj.com; @ptrevisani)
