The XRP Ledger ecosystem is preparing for a major network update, with the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment set to go live in less than two days. Data from XRPScan shows the amendment activation process has entered its final countdown, now standing at 1 day and 23 hours before the planned rollout.
XRP Ledger to activate fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade in under 2 days
Validator support and activation process
The fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment secured 85.71% consensus among XRP Ledger validators after a successful vote. According to the protocol’s amendment system, any change that affects transaction processing—even bug fixes—requires formal approval. This process needs at least 80% validator support for two consecutive weeks before an amendment is enabled.
The XRP Ledger, often referred to as XRPL, is a decentralized blockchain designed for fast and efficient cross-border payments. Its amendment mechanism ensures a high level of consensus and robust network governance, helping coordinate significant code changes across all trusted validators.
Mini dictionary: Amendment system, a governance method in XRPL that allows proposed changes to be approved through validator voting before they are implemented, ensuring only code with broad community support is activated.
Key improvements and upgrade focus
The fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade is expected to deliver important updates to several components of the XRPL ecosystem, including Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, the permissioned decentralized exchange (DEX), Multi-Purpose Tokens, and permissioned domains. Network participants anticipate these changes will enhance functionality and reliability for developers and users.
Provided there are no unexpected delays, the upgrade will be enabled on the mainnet within the next two days as planned.
With validator approval exceeding the required 80% threshold, the amendment targets fixes to Vaults, Lending Protocol, DEX, and more, aiming for a smoother XRPL experience for all stakeholders.
Background: Ripple’s security initiative and previous updates
Ripple, a technology company deeply involved in the XRP Ledger’s development, recently intensified its focus on security. In March, Ripple announced the launch of a dedicated artificial intelligence-assisted red team, designed to proactively search for vulnerabilities in the network.
The fixCleanup3_1_3 amendment, which was activated on May 27, addressed issues affecting NFTs, permissioned domains, Vaults, and the Lending Protocol. This was touted as the first dedicated security release stemming from the new security initiative.
In June, XRPL version 3.2.0 was rolled out as a maintenance and cleanup release. This update retired amendments active for more than two years and introduced the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment, now ready for activation.
Ripple’s continued investment in security, including the launch of an AI-assisted red team, underlines the project’s commitment to safeguarding the XRPL ecosystem during ongoing upgrades.
