Circle acquires IBM blockchain patent portfolio
Foresight News reports that Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) has announced the acquisition of the core assets of IBM's blockchain patent portfolio, which includes more than 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 granted patents, covering areas such as blockchain foundational technology, banking, financial services, insurance, enterprise infrastructure, supply chain verification, and secure cloud operations. Following this acquisition, Circle has become the company with the largest number of blockchain patents in the United States. This expanded intellectual property will support the infrastructure development of on-chain products and agent financial tools such as USDC, Circle Payments Network, and Arc. Circle and IBM also plan to explore further commercial cooperation opportunities.
