Currently, bullish bets on the US dollar in the market have accumulated to historically extreme levels, with net long positions reaching the second largest scale on record. However, such massive buying has only driven the US Dollar Index to record a moderate increase since the beginning of the year, presenting a stark contrast between the limited upward momentum and the heavy position structure.
The scale of capital inflows since the start of this year has even exceeded periods that previously fueled significant US dollar strength, but variables such as geopolitical conflicts and trade policies, which should have provided extra support, have yet to help the index break through key technical resistance levels. The lackluster uptrend is increasingly triggering internal anxiety among bulls.
Speculative positions have always been regarded as effective early warning signals for potential reversals. When bets become extremely concentrated in one direction, their restraining effect on price movements becomes more pronounced. Under the current pattern, any event that triggers a sell-off could set off a chain reaction.
