```htmlThe National Energy Administration recently released the "China Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Report (2026)", which shows that Shengli-Jiyang has established the country's first national-level demonstration zone for continental faulted lacustrine basin shale oil. It has created a large platform for efficient stereoscopic development and production, reporting proven geological reserves of 327 million tons, with shale oil annual production expected to exceed 700 thousand tons in 2025. Shale oil refers to petroleum resources found primarily in shale strata and belongs to unconventional resources. The Shengli-Jiyang National-level Shale Oil Demonstration Zone is the third national-level shale oil demonstration zone in China, following the Xinjiang Jimusaer and Daqing Gulong National-level Demonstration Zones. Its purpose is to improve China’s continental faulted lacustrine basin shale oil exploration and development technical system, overcome key technical bottlenecks, achieve significant breakthroughs in exploration and development, and form efficient, replicable, and scalable exploration and development models.
