SK Group chairman says Anthropic sought to purchase chip materials from the company and plans to develop its own chips
Golden Ten Data July 25|SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won revealed that the artificial intelligence company Anthropic PBC has made a procurement request to global top-tier memory chip manufacturer SK Hynix, aiming to use them for self-developed proprietary semiconductor chips. Chey Tae-won spoke alongside Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other tech executives at an artificial intelligence summit in San Francisco. He noted that an AI firm striving for independent chip development is significant. SK Group, led by Chey Tae-won, is the parent company of Korea's chip maker SK Hynix.
Chey Tae-won's visit coincided with Korean President Lee Jae-myung's trip to Silicon Valley, where he hosted an artificial intelligence summit. During the president's visit, multiple technology collaborations were officially announced, including agreements reached between Nvidia and Korea's Naver as well as SK Group.
