Bitwise: ETH staking reaches a historic high, accounting for 33% of circulating supply, as institutions continue to increase their holdings
According to Odaily, Bitwise released the “Q3 2026 Staking Report” showing that 40.2 million ETH have now been staked, accounting for 33% of total ETH supply—a record high. This year's new staking mainly comes from institutions, including staking ETFs, corporate treasuries, and other large holders. The report also shows that staking rates on networks covered by Bitwise remain high, with Solana at 68%, Near at 45%, Hyperliquid at 44%, and Avalanche at 41%.
In addition, Ethereum’s throughput increased by 73% year-on-year, while Avalanche’s trading volume reached four times that of the same period last year. Recently, an exchange and Circle each staked 500,000 HYPE on Hyperliquid, indicating that institutional staking is expanding to more emerging PoS networks.
