The total scale of AI-related transactions by bitcoin mining companies exceeds 7.5 gigawatts, with contract equivalents worth $150 billion.
Odaily reported that Bernstein stated in its Thursday research report that in July, its Bitcoin mining industry transaction tracker recorded a new AI-related transaction every week, with a total scale exceeding 7.5 gigawatts, equivalent to 150 billion US dollars based on multi-year contracts.
Bernstein noted that as new US data centers face increasing political resistance, access to electricity remains the real bottleneck for the AI sector, and the third-party computing power provided by Bitcoin mining companies will continue to be valuable.
On Monday this week, after Hut 8 and an exchange announced major AI infrastructure transactions, Bitcoin mining stocks saw double-digit gains. Hut 8 revealed that its AI data center campus had entered into a 15-year, 9.8 billion US dollar leasing agreement; the exchange disclosed a 2.8 billion US dollar cloud services contract with an AI developer.
Earlier in July, MARA Holdings announced plans to acquire a site in Texas with up to 2 gigawatts of capacity to expand its AI and digital infrastructure business. Previously, TeraWulf signed a 20-year data center leasing agreement with AI startup Anthropic, which stated the deal could generate about 19 billion US dollars in contract revenue. (Cointelegraph)
