IBM to Acquire HRL Laboratories to Drive the Development of the Quantum Future

Gelonghui, July 23 | IBM today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the flagship research and development institution HRL Laboratories, LLC (HRL). HRL is a private company jointly owned by Boeing and General Motors. After the transaction is completed, Boeing and General Motors will continue to cooperate with IBM in the development of quantum applications and advanced technologies. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. IBM's acquisition of HRL is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
