Honeywell Aerospace expands AI autonomy technology partnerships and is optimistic about European defense growth

Glonghui July 23|Honeywell Aerospace announced a new AI partnership with Shield AI to develop an autonomous software stack that combines Honeywell's avionics, navigation, and sensing technologies with Shield AI's Hivemind software development toolkit. The collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of autonomous aircraft systems by integrating certified avionics with AI-based flight software. The two companies stated that, in addition to jointly advancing U.S. and international defense unmanned aircraft projects, they will also explore future applications of AI-powered autonomous flight in commercial aviation and other transportation markets. Additionally, Honeywell Aerospace noted that the company is seeing growing demand in its international defense business through its 2024 acquisition of Italian navigation technology company Civitanavi Systems.
