Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that Micron Technology (MU.US) recently supplied Tesla (TSLA.US) with a "large quantity" of memory chips, meeting the carmaker's demand for this increasingly scarce resource. Musk stated that in a market where memory chips are hard to obtain and prices are high, the terms of Micron’s chip deal with Tesla were very reasonable. In the long run, Musk is committed to producing semiconductors independently. The billionaire has launched an ambitious project called "Terafab," aimed at manufacturing computing chips and memory chips on an unprecedented scale. For now, however, Tesla still relies on Micron. Data shows that Tesla and SpaceX are not among Micron's top ten customers.
