Jinse Finance reported that on July 22, according to calculations by the Financial Times, the Trump administration has obtained more than 13 billion USD in revenue from Venezuelan oil sales this year. However, the government has revealed very little information regarding the specific usage of these funds. The US government once stated that these funds "will be used to benefit the American people and the Venezuelan people." But six months after the US took control of these funds, economists say there are relatively few signs of economic recovery in Venezuela—perhaps indicating that the US has not sent all the revenue back to Caracas. Following the earthquake, Venezuela’s economy has been in crisis, and the country has been striving to access funds stored abroad, such as those in the International Monetary Fund and gold held by the Bank of England.
