AMC Entertainment surges 26% after posting record revenue in its 106-year history

AMC Entertainment just did something it hasn’t managed in over a century of existence: it posted the best quarterly revenue in company history. The theater chain reported $1.5967 billion in Q2 2026 revenue, a 14.2% jump from the same period last year, and shares responded by rocketing roughly 26%.

Look, a company that spent much of the pandemic era as the poster child for meme stock chaos just delivered adjusted earnings per share of $0.14. Wall Street had expected a loss of $0.06. That’s a swing worth paying attention to.

The numbers behind AMC’s blockbuster quarter

The headline figure is impressive, but the profitability metrics tell an even more compelling story. AMC’s adjusted EBITDA hit $321.4 million, a 69.6% increase year-over-year. That marks the first time in the company’s 106-year history that quarterly EBITDA crossed the $300 million threshold.

Revenue of nearly $1.6 billion blew past analyst consensus estimates of around $1.47 billion. Shares climbed more than 16% in premarket trading before the broader session pushed the total gain to approximately 26%.

The performance was fueled by a recovering Hollywood box office and increased attendance for premium format screenings, those IMAX and Dolby Cinema experiences that justify charging north of $20 a ticket.

AMC’s crypto connections: Bitcoin, NFTs, and tokenized shares

CEO Adam Aron has repeatedly steered the company toward crypto-adjacent territory, starting with Bitcoin payment acceptance for movie tickets back in 2021.

The company also dabbled in NFTs, launching limited-edition collectibles on the WAX blockchain in 2022 as a play to engage younger, digitally native audiences.

The most interesting crypto angle right now exists independently of AMC’s corporate decisions. Tokenized versions of AMC shares, known as AMCon, are available through Ondo Finance as fractional real-world asset tokens. These represent fractional interests in AMC’s common stock and live on-chain, giving crypto-native investors exposure to traditional equities through blockchain rails.

The Q2 earnings report didn’t announce any new crypto initiatives. But the existence of tokenized AMC shares means that every time the underlying stock moves 26% in a day, there’s a direct ripple effect into the RWA token ecosystem.

What this means for investors

The difference this time is that the surge is backed by actual financial performance rather than Reddit-fueled short squeezes. Record revenue, record EBITDA, and a positive EPS when analysts expected losses.

The risk, as always with AMC, is that the company still carries significant debt from its pandemic-era survival borrowing. Record EBITDA helps service that debt, but a single strong quarter doesn’t erase years of balance sheet strain.

In the first half of 2026, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix’s combined investment in semiconductor facilities reached 43.2 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 35.1%, with capacity utilization at 100% to meet strong AI storage demand. In terms of customer composition, NVIDIA’s revenue share at SK Hynix dropped to 13.35% and it did not enter Samsung’s top five customers, reflecting that AI storage demand is shifting from reliance on NVIDIA towards a diversified and distributed structure, with competition focusing on next-generation products and a broader group of AI chip clients.
