Agency: Over 700 Oil Tankers Near Strait of Hormuz
On July 21, according to a report by maritime analytics firm Signal Group, as of July 15, there were a total of 728 empty and loaded oil tankers around the Strait of Hormuz, including 394 empty tankers and 334 loaded tankers. Senior market analyst Maria Bertzeletou pointed out in a weekly report that there were 168 empty tankers and 175 loaded tankers in the Persian Gulf waters. In the Gulf of Oman, east of the Strait of Hormuz, there were 226 empty tankers and 159 loaded tankers. Since the escalation of tensions on July 6, the proportion of oil tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz with transparent ownership information has dropped to 45%, compared to 67% during the temporary peace agreement.
