Archer Aviation (ACHR.US) CEO Adam Goldstein said at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK on Monday that the company is fully focused on the certification of its air taxi.

According to Zhihu Finance APP, Archer Aviation (ACHR.US) CEO Adam Goldstein stated at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK on Monday that the company is fully focused on certifying its air taxi and is striving to achieve commercial operations before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. On Monday, Archer and Anduril jointly released the Thunder autonomous vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) defense model, which is designed to collaborate with manned aircraft and helicopters. The two companies established their partnership for the first time in 2024. Boosted by this news, Archer's shares surged nearly 20% that day.

"It has always been an ambitious goal," Goldstein said. "It remains an ambitious goal, but we will do everything we can to achieve it."

Archer is known for developing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, aiming to reduce emissions and traffic pressure in congested urban areas. However, this technology has previously encountered a series of regulatory and infrastructure obstacles, causing repeated delays in the certification timeline.

In recent months, Archer and its peers have benefited from Trump's latest eVTOL pilot program—a program designed to accelerate deployment, with testing already conducted in 26 states across the U.S.

Goldstein stated: "This is critical to winning the trust of the public and regulators, and will ultimately drive our certification process. This step will be decisive in whether we can achieve our goals on time."

As the US military increases investment in new battlefield technologies and continuously introduces AI tools, Archer and its peers are also steadily expanding their defense business sectors.

Goldstein said that in the context of growing geopolitical tensions, defense applications represent a "huge market" for Archer. He added that this model does not require the same certification processes for defense as it does for commercial use.

"The applications we can bring to the defense sector are impressive and exactly what combat personnel urgently need," Goldstein said.
