SpaceXAI (SPCX.US) launches Excel version of Grok plugin, fully integrated into the Microsoft Office suite

According to Zhihu Finance APP, Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI (SPCX.US) announced on Monday that its generative AI chatbot Grok has been integrated into Microsoft (MSFT.US) Excel spreadsheet software. Users can now obtain this Microsoft 365 add-in for free via the Microsoft Marketplace. The add-in also supports Word and PowerPoint, marking Grok’s full integration into the Microsoft Office suite.

According to SpaceXAI, users only need to describe their desired results in everyday language, and Grok can automatically process the corresponding syntax logic—including operations such as calculating averages, sorting data, and autofilling. These results will appear directly in the formula bar, just like regular editing. Additionally, after selecting a specific cell range, users can ask Grok questions; Grok will reference the specific data cells in its answers and can automatically generate charts.

The add-in also supports scenario testing and rerunning predictions, allowing users to test downside risk cases, rerun forecasts, or complete tasks at month-end without manually rebuilding tables. The add-in can connect to external data sources, and users can instruct Grok to extract contextual information from recent emails or files in SharePoint or Google Drive.

From Standalone Chatbot to Embedded Office Agent

It is understood that earlier, Grok rolled out plugins for Word and PowerPoint in mid-June. On June 22, Grok was officially integrated into the Microsoft Office suite, allowing users to generate documents and presentations and handle spreadsheet data directly from a dedicated AI agent in the application sidebar, based on text instructions.

This move positions Grok as a direct competitor to Microsoft Copilot, reflecting the fierce battle among technology giants over the enterprise AI office market. The release of Grok 4.5 further reinforces this strategy—the model was trained on tens of thousands of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs, and within Grok Build, it can construct complex Excel models involving web research and multi-worksheet formulas, as well as create sophisticated charts in PowerPoint using native shapes. In terms of pricing, Grok 4.5 is offered at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, making it more cost-effective than some competitors.
