International oil prices declined on August 13. By the close of trading, the price of light crude oil futures for September delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell by $2.02 to settle at $81.25 per barrel, a decrease of 2.43%. The price of London Brent crude oil futures for October delivery dropped by $1.91 to close at $87.07 per barrel, a decrease of 2.15%.

The US Dollar Index, which measures the value of the dollar against six major currencies, fell by 0.05% that day, closing at 99.964 in the New York foreign exchange market.
