Baltic Dry Bulk Shipping Index Falls as Demand for Capesize Vessels Drops

Golden Ten Data Futures, July 15 – According to foreign media reports, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) has retreated from a more than one-month high due to declining demand for Capesize vessels. The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) dropped by 51 points, or 1.71%, compared to the previous trading day, closing at 2,929 points. The Capesize Index (BCI) fell by 157 points, or 3.3%, to 4,594 points, pulling back from its highest level in more than a month. Average daily earnings for Capesize vessels decreased by 1,420 USD to 38,163 USD. The Panamax Index (BPI) climbed by 7 points, or 0.3%, to 2,258 points. Average daily earnings for Panamax vessels increased by 65 USD to 20,325 USD. The Supramax Index (BSI) rose by 10 points, or 0.6%, to 1,720 points, marking the highest level since August 2022. The Handysize Index (BHSI) fell by 3 points from the previous day to 906 points.
