Report: Samsung Electronics Holds Preliminary Talks on Potential US IPO
According to informed sources, Samsung Electronics is in the early stages of exploring the issuance of American Depositary Receipts (ADR). The sources said the company has held preliminary discussions with several banks, but has not yet decided whether to proceed with the issuance plan. They indicated that Samsung will closely monitor the highly volatile memory chip stocks during the decision-making process. If the company ultimately decides to pursue a US listing, its vast business portfolio and frequent labor-management disputes might pose challenges to the transaction structure. They added that the relevant discussions are still at a very early stage, and there may not be a public offering in the end. A representative of Samsung Electronics declined to comment. (Bloomberg)
