Barclays: SK Hynix's US stock listing may support the Korean won in the short term
According to Odaily, Barclays analysts stated in a report that SK hynix's listing in the United States may provide some short-term support for the Korean won. Some of this support may come from hedging operations and ultimately converting part of the raised funds into Korean won for domestic investment. The recent appreciation of the Korean won suggests that some pre-hedging operations have already been reflected in its price.
At the same time, if Korean semiconductor companies in the future repatriate offshore assets or overseas earnings to fund a significant portion of their domestic investments, it would create additional demand for the Korean won and support the currency.
