1. Micron's $9.3B Hiroshima Expansion Project Breaks Ground

Micron Technology has officially launched the expansion of its western Japan factory with a total investment of approximately $9.3 billion (1.5 trillion JPY), focused on advanced memory chips including High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). The project is part of Micron's global capacity expansion plan to meet AI industry demand. HBM is a key component for NVIDIA AI processors, with shipments expected to begin in summer 2028. Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has committed up to 500 billion JPY in subsidies. Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra stated at the groundbreaking that the first wafers for AI core storage technology — HBM — will be produced in Hiroshima.

🎯 Beneficiaries: MU, NVDA; Key Catalyst: Strong AI memory demand accelerating global expansion plans.

2. Samsung Plans 20% DRAM Price Increase in Q3

Samsung Electronics plans to raise average DRAM selling prices by 20% QoQ in Q3, with oral notifications already sent to some customers. Multiple terminal manufacturers have confirmed the news. While the upstream price hike will pass through to finished goods, the impact on overall consumer electronics demand is expected to be limited.

🎯 Beneficiaries: MU, 000660.KR (SK Hynix); Key Catalyst: Memory cycle upturn with AI-driven demand supporting pricing power.

3. SK Hynix Pursues US Listing to Attract AI Investors SK Hynix is advancing a $29 billion US listing (potentially one of the largest foreign company IPOs ever) with underwriting fees around 0.5%, aiming to attract more AI-focused investors. The offering could reach up to 2.5% of issued shares. This provides US investors direct access to a pure-play AI memory leader.

🎯 Beneficiaries: MU, NVDA; Key Catalyst: Enhanced liquidity for AI memory pure-plays in the US market.

4. Apple Foldable iPhone Shipping Outlook Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest supply chain survey indicates Apple’s foldable iPhone will have 7-8 million units assembled/shipped in 2H26, with only 0.5-1 million in Q3 (about 10% of total). It may launch alongside iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max but with delayed pre-order and sales, potentially repeating the iPhone X scenario, with supply tightness extending through year-end.

🎯 Beneficiaries: AAPL, MU; Key Catalyst: New end-side AI hardware narrative confirmed by production rhythm.

5. OpenAI Secretly Files for IPO, Targeting $1 Trillion Valuation OpenAI has confirmed it secretly submitted an IPO application in June, targeting a 2027 listing with a $1 trillion valuation. Microsoft holds approximately 27% stake following earlier investment agreements when OpenAI was valued around $135 billion.

🎯 Beneficiaries: MSFT, NVDA; Key Catalyst: AI infrastructure giant’s capitalization process accelerating, benefiting ecosystem partners.

Trading Tips: AI memory (HBM/DRAM) expansion and pricing catalysts remain strong. Apple foldable and OpenAI IPO boost supply chain and cloud expectations. Focus on capital inflows into the memory sector while managing positions amid post-holiday volatility. US stocks have seen increased volatility recently. ECB Research: Even if AI Meets Expectations, U.S. Tech Stocks May Correct, Threatening the Eurozone

Economists at the European Central Bank have issued a warning: even if AI ultimately fulfills all its promises, a correction in U.S. tech stocks may still be inevitable. The core logic is that technological success could actually shift risks from the corporate level to the broader economy, raising unhedgeable systemic risk premiums and suppressing valuations. The eurozone would also be affected and cannot remain immune, while the current policy room for maneuver is far less ample than it was during the bursting of the internet bubble.

From a Technical Narrative to a Capital Narrative: The Next Main Battleground in the AI Construction Cycle

US hyperscale cloud providers have significantly raised their capital expenditure plans, both public and private credit markets are rapidly moving into AI infrastructure financing, and the financing structure is evolving quickly and extending deeper into the value chain—all of this has happened intensively within just a few months, with a speed, scope, and level of innovation that exceeds market expectations. Morgan Stanley believes that AI is evolving into a capital markets story, and understanding the flow of capital is becoming as important as understanding the technological innovation itself.

"Too crazy!" Korean retail investors "move from Seoul to Wall Street": buying SK Hynix ADRs and betting on triple leveraged ETFs

Data shows that South Korean retail investors had a net purchase of approximately $4.5 billion in US stocks in July. Among these, $840 million flowed into SK Hynix ADR, despite about a 10% premium. The triple-leveraged semiconductor ETF SOXL was the top favorite among South Korean investors, and leveraged products accounted for four of the top ten purchased assets. Analysts noted that South Korean retail investors are "switching arenas but not bets," continuing to focus on the AI theme. The prevalence of ADR premiums and leverage is seen as a sign of excessive speculation, which may exacerbate volatility in specific markets.
