Robinhood Selects Morpho to Power USDG Stablecoin Yield

  • Robinhood Earn uses Morpho vaults to generate yield from idle USDG stablecoin balances.
  • Morpho’s credit network allows Robinhood to conceal DeFi complexity inside its app.
  • The rollout broadens embedded finance through familiar consumer investment platforms.

Robinhood has selected Morpho to power Robinhood Earn, a new product for eligible U.S. customers holding idle USDG stablecoin balances. The rollout will begin over the coming weeks and bring decentralized lending infrastructure directly into the Robinhood app. During the past year, Morpho expanded through integrations with Fireblocks, Anchorage Digital, institutional custody providers, and tokenized real-world asset platforms. Robinhood now adds another major retail distribution channel.

Robinhood Earn Moves DeFi Behind the Interface

Robinhood Earn aims to make stablecoin yield feel as simple as holding cash in an investment account. Customers will use the product inside Robinhood without directly managing lending protocols, wallets, bridges, or gas fees.

Behind the interface, customer USDG deposits enter a Morpho Vault. The vault allocates funds across lending markets, where borrowers post collateral and pay interest that generates returns for depositors.

Spark, Ethena, and Maple are among the protocols identified as borrowers. Steakhouse Financial curates the vault, while Robinhood Chain provides the settlement layer for activity connected to the product.

For customers, those technical layers remain largely invisible. The app presents a familiar experience while Morpho handles lending infrastructure in the background. Will users recognize how much decentralized finance supports the yield they receive?

Morpho Extends Its Role as Lending Infrastructure

The rollout represents one of Morpho’s largest retail integrations to date. It also expands the protocol’s position as an infrastructure provider for companies building consumer and institutional financial products.

Morpho operates as an open credit network rather than a traditional lending platform. Lenders and borrowers compete in real time, helping create market-driven interest rates across the protocol’s lending markets.

“Robinhood is the platform that made investing accessible to a generation,” Morpho co-founder Paul Frambot said. He added that the partnership would bring onchain finance to Robinhood’s mainstream customer base. “Decentralized finance technology works best as infrastructure,” Frambot said. He said brands and institutions can use that infrastructure to offer products that are more open, transparent, and competitive.

Consumer Platforms Embed DeFi Into Existing Products

Robinhood is entering a market where wallets, exchanges, and fintech platforms increasingly compete to hold stablecoins and offer yield. Their approach often places decentralized infrastructure behind familiar consumer interfaces.

Robinhood and MetaMask have both selected Morpho for parts of their lending infrastructure. Meanwhile, MoonPay is expanding beyond payments into tokenized assets and institutional yield products.

The shift changes how customers reach decentralized finance. Instead of visiting protocols directly, users can access lending products through applications they already use for investing, payments, or digital assets.

“We believe everyone should have access to the most efficient and innovative financial tools available,” said Gaëtan Thabot, director of partnerships at Robinhood Crypto. Thabot said Robinhood will combine Morpho’s open credit network with USDG and Robinhood Chain. He described the product as a simple way for eligible users to put digital assets to work.

The launch also expands Robinhood’s broader move into onchain finance. Eligible customers will gain access through the Robinhood app as the phased rollout begins over the coming weeks.

September New Jobs Expected to Drop to 90,000: Tonight’s Real “Bombshell” in Nonfarm Payrolls May Be Whether August Data Is Significantly Revised Down

Wall Street generally expects that new jobs added in September will drop to 90,000 and the unemployment rate will remain at 4.1%. The strong data in August was mainly boosted by unusual seasonal factors; the extent of their revision will directly affect perceptions of the strength of the September figures. As recent statements by Federal Reserve officials have pushed the probability of a rate hike in October down to 25%, market attention has shifted to long-term rates. Currently, systematic funds hold about $390 billion in global bond short positions. If the employment data unexpectedly disappoints, it could trigger severe market turbulence.
