A free Steam game has been removed after researchers and players linked it to malware allegedly built to scan user data and target cryptocurrency wallets.

Kyunghyang Games reported on May 19 that ‘Beyond the Dark,’ a survival horror title set in a dark mansion, had been flagged by overseas IT YouTuber Eric Parker. Parker published a video on analyzing the title and said it was difficult to play normally.

According to Kyunghyang Games, Parker’s analysis found malicious code inside the game’s DLL files. The code allegedly searched users’ MAC addresses and Chrome extensions. That finding raised concern, as Chrome extensions can include crypto wallet tools such as MetaMask.

The report also said the program contacted an external server to download more malicious software. Steam community reviews also warned that Beyond the Dark stole browser data and crypto wallet information.

One review said the title was no longer available through the Steam store. Kyunghyang Games said Parker linked the incident to earlier malicious titles on Steam. He described the file as “100% malware” and warned users not to run it.

MalwareBazaar also listed a sample tied to Beyond the Dark. The entry named Parker as the reporter and tagged the file as “exe,” “stealer,” and “steam.” The listing described the file as a malicious DLL shipped in the game’s campaign.

On the same accord, Pirat_Nation, a tech and game analyst, said users who downloaded or played it should delete it immediately. The analyst also advised affected users to run a full virus scan, change important passwords, and check crypto wallets for missing funds.

Users were also told to move remaining wallet balances to a new secure wallet on another device. Besides, Valve removed Beyond the Dark from Steam after Parker’s public analysis, according to Kyunghyang Games.

Community pages, on the other hand, later carried notices and user warnings after players flagged the title.

The case follows another Steam malware incident involving BlockBlasters. Crypto investigator ZachXBT reported in September 2025 that Steam removed BlockBlasters after malware drained more than $150K from victims’ crypto wallets.

One affected streamer reportedly lost $32,000 while raising money for cancer treatment. Kyunghyang Games also cited BlockBlasters as a prior case involving a stolen wallet and user data.

For now, the latest Steam game takedown adds fresh scrutiny to free downloads on major gaming platforms. It also shows how malware campaigns can target crypto users through software that appears harmless at first glance.

AI financing concerns ferment, Broadcom plunges 7% intraday, $370 billion potential risk rings alarm

According to estimates by Bank of America, Broadcom’s chip financing projects could result in approximately $370 billion in senior debt by mid-2029, providing funding for 20GW of computing power, with around $150 billion in new debt potentially being added in 2027 alone. While Bank of America does not question Broadcom’s business fundamentals, the market is beginning to realize that if future AI computing power demand increasingly depends on massive financing platforms, the valuation logic of the AI industry chain must also simultaneously consider asset residual value, customer default rates, debt costs, and supplier guarantee obligations.
