Two representatives stated that seven major oil-producing countries led by Saudi Arabia and Russia are expected to increase their production quota by 188,000 barrels per day at Sunday’s video conference. However, this increase cannot be effectively implemented if passage through the Strait of Hormuz is obstructed. Due to the private nature of the discussions, the representatives requested anonymity. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak indicated that the United Arab Emirates' departure from OPEC would not immediately trigger a price war, as the Iran conflict restricts the ability of oil-producing countries to release supplies.
