ING analysts stated that due to the persistent severe disruption of oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, the spot oil market is becoming increasingly tighter.
The company noted that even after accounting for pipeline rerouting and the passage of a few tankers, around 13 million barrels of supply are still disrupted daily, and there is further risk of losses due to the US blockade.
This increasingly tight supply situation is leading to a significant divergence between the spot market and the paper market.
The analysts said that the price of physical Brent crude oil in the spot market, which reflects actual cargoes, is approaching $117 per barrel with a high premium, while the nearby Brent crude oil futures price remains around $95.
