European stock indices opened mixed, with luxury goods shares leading the declines.

Golden Ten Data reported on April 15 that European blue-chip indexes opened mixed, with luxury stocks falling sharply, though hopes for peace in the Middle East boosted other sectors of the market. The French CAC40 index, dominated by luxury stocks, fell by 0.6%. Hermès and Kering, the parent company of Gucci, dropped by 12% and 9.3% respectively as their performance failed to meet investors’ expectations. This sell-off also affected Italian luxury stocks, but gains in bank stocks and automaker Stellantis (up 3.6%) offset these losses. The German DAX30 index rose 0.15% due to gains in automotive stocks, while the UK FTSE 100 index gained 0.2% as Barratt Developments maintained its performance guidance and real estate stocks drove the overall market higher.
