Italy: Services sector sees first decline in 16 months as demand shows signs of weakening
Italian Service Sector Faces Downturn
- Production and new business continue to decrease
- Cost inflation reaches its highest level in more than three years, resulting in sharper price increases
- Business confidence drops to its lowest point in over five years
- Service activity declines for the first time in 16 months as demand weakens
In March, Italy's service industry experienced a downturn, with demand shrinking both domestically and internationally. Data on prices revealed that rising costs intensified, and although companies absorbed much of this pressure, the increase in charges was less pronounced. The positive trend in employment that lasted for more than a year came to a halt, and overall business sentiment weakened.
