US enacts a 25% duty on products derived from steel, aluminum, and copper
President Trump Increases Tariffs on Metal Imports
President Donald J. Trump has issued a new Proclamation aimed at reinforcing tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, and copper. This action is intended to better safeguard national security by addressing risks associated with these imports. The updated Proclamation outlines a revised method for determining tariffs, ensuring they are based on the actual market value of imported steel, aluminum, and copper goods, rather than undervalued foreign prices.
Additionally, the Proclamation introduces straightforward guidelines for calculating tariffs under Section 232. Products composed entirely or predominantly of steel, aluminum, or copper will now face a fixed 50% tariff on their total value.
