Foresight News reports, according to Bloomberg, that private financing in the cryptocurrency sector will increase from nearly $13 billion in 2024 to $20.4 billion in 2025, but will still remain below the peak of $27.6 billion in 2022. The two main areas of private financing are "investment and trading infrastructure" and "brokerages and exchanges" (i.e., financial applications). Payment infrastructure ranks third.

The total amount raised by cryptocurrency payment companies in 2025 will jump to $2.6 billion, surpassing the total fundraising of the past three years combined. Given the recent acquisition of BVNK by Mastercard, this figure is expected to grow even further this year.

In contrast, funding for blockchain gaming plummeted from $3.76 billion in 2022 (about 14% of the total) and will no longer be counted as a separate category in 2025. Web3 dApps raised $5.2 billion in 2022. However, in the 2025 report, dApps targeting only consumer applications received just $864 million in financing.
