OECD Warns of Higher U.S. Inflation Amid Iran Conflict
The ongoing conflict involving Iran and its effects on the international energy sector are expected to drive U.S. inflation rates significantly above the Federal Reserve’s current outlook this year, according to a major international policy organization. In its latest economic assessment, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) now anticipates overall U.S. inflation to reach 4.2% in 2026—a notable increase from its earlier estimate of 2.8%.
This new projection also surpasses the Federal Reserve’s recent forecast of 2.7%. The OECD attributes this upward revision to two main contributing factors.
