⑴ Slovak Prime Minister Fico issued a warning on the 20th: after the US and Israel launched military strikes against Iran, shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has continued to be disrupted. Combined with the current economic situation in Europe and substantial support for Ukraine, multiple factors have formed an "explosive combination," and the European Union may face an oil crisis.⑵ Data shows that since the US and Israel attacked Iran, the EU has paid more than 6 billions euros extra due to rising fuel prices. Fico bluntly stated that the situation could become very bad in the future, with the risk of triggering an oil crisis.⑶ From the perspective of the energy supply chain, the Strait of Hormuz is a key global transportation route, and shipping disruptions directly impact the import-dependent European market. Previously, the US issued a 30-day sanction waiver for Iranian oil, aiming to ease supply pressure, but Europe still faces the dual squeeze of actual delivery interruptions and rising costs.⑷ Fico called on the EU to push for the prompt restoration of the "Friendship" oil pipeline. This pipeline is an important channel for Russian crude oil to Europe, and its operational status directly affects supply flexibility outside the Middle East. Against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical tensions, the vulnerability of European energy security is being further amplified.
