Market Reactions Amid Middle East Tensions
Despite a wave of assaults targeting energy facilities in the Middle East, oil and gas prices in North America ended the week close to where they began. However, this stability offered little relief to other sectors: bond yields climbed once more, equities lost early gains, and precious metals such as gold experienced sharp declines.
President Trump sought to reassure the public by stating that the conflict would not be prolonged and that American troops would not be sent into action. Nevertheless, Iran escalated its offensive, striking additional energy installations in the region—including major LNG facilities in Qatar and a Saudi refinery situated near the Red Sea, an area often considered a safer alternative to the Persian Gulf.
