Central Banks Hold Rates Steady Amid Inflation Concerns
This week, most leading central banks in developed economies opted to maintain their current interest rates. However, they made it clear that they remain vigilant and prepared to intervene if inflation accelerates, particularly in response to the energy market disruptions stemming from the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, market participants have significantly reduced expectations for interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve this year, and have even begun to anticipate potential rate hikes from other institutions such as the European Central Bank and the Bank of England. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of Australia, which has already been tightening policy, implemented another rate increase this week.
