Nasdaq researcher: Crypto trading platforms will be the first to deploy AI agents for retail users
Pranav Ramesh, Head of Options Research at Nasdaq and Co-founder & CTO of Leadpoat, stated that over the past 18 months, Nasdaq has significantly expanded the application scope of AI agents, covering areas such as market surveillance, compliance, and market microstructure analysis, while retaining human review in the final decision-making process.
Ramesh expects that crypto trading platforms will be the first to launch AI agent tools for retail users, including portfolio analysis, trading advice, and execution support. However, the systems have not yet achieved fully autonomous operation at this stage. He also pointed out that AI agents have begun to replace entry-level positions; recently, a certain exchange, Messari, and Block have laid off employees to advance AI automation, confirming this trend.
The AI sales startup Leadpoet, co-founded by Ramesh and Gavin Zaentz, disclosed in February 2026 that it achieved $1 million in annualized revenue in its first quarter after launch and received investment from DSV Fund and Astrid. The company uses the Bittensor decentralized AI network and has joined the NVIDIA Inception program. (CoinDesk)

He added that after extended selling, valuations in the sector were oversold and now operating on their own momentum. However, weak demand for Firmus indicated that investors preferred enterprises with solid performance, rather than shunning tech stocks entirely.
